FCC CULTURE CAMP

The teens of FCC had a great time at Culture Camp this year! The weather was gorgeous and we all made new friends while reconnecting with old ones. We especially enjoyed the makeup session with Mary Kay representative Tamara Flippen, hanging out at the beach, and staying up very late playing games and talking. Although this last activity was the main cause for the dark circles under our eyes in the morning, (the alarm clock going off at 6:00 AM didn’t help either) the entire weekend was fun nevertheless.

On our last night at camp we made blankets for infants in Chinese orphanages by tying pieces of felt together. We made about 20 blankets in all, and they’ll be sent to OCDF (Our Chinese Daughters Foundation) to take to China. Speaking of China, the teen board members of FCC are in the process of planning a trip for the older teens there—you’ll be hearing more on that later!

Thanks to everyone who came to Culture Camp! We look forward to seeing you again next year.

Hey FCC Teens!

Tian and I are continuing to work with the board to develop our first ever 2009 summer service trip to China! At this point, we are hoping for service sites in both a major city and a rural setting. Beijing and Xian are being considered. We are discussing many fun experiences for us in addition to the service projects.  All teens that are 13 and up will be eligible for this trip. Don’t pack your bags yet, but feel free to come to our informational meeting on October 19, 2008 from 2-4 pm at Bellevue Public Library.  If you are interested or have any questions or concerns, feel free to email us at fccnwteens@yahoo.com.
